FAQ
- Where do I start?
There are many options for Villages. You need to visit a wide range of advertised Villages and investigate thoroughly the arrangements for entry. Further help in these decisions is available . View a list of Retirement Villages in Tasmania here.
- What Facilities Are Included?
The facilities you have access to in your Village are specified in your contract. You need to enquire about this for each Village you are interested in.
- What if we have pets?
All Villages differ in their rules with regard to pets. You need to ask the Manager of your Village choice if pets are permitted, and under what conditions. These conditions should be clearly documented in the Village Rules issued to you prior to undertaking your contract.
If this is important to you , make sure you understand the rules and your responsibilities in the management of pets.
- How much is the Lease?
Leases vary from Village to Village. Some require an entry fee and an "Ingoing Contribution" from which a "Deferred Management Fee" is charged against your ingoing contribution annually over a specified period of time.
Some Villages operate on a Strata Title system. You need to ask specifically about the arrangement at each Village before entring into a contract.
- How Much Will It Cost?
All Villages differ in their fee structure. You need to enquire specifically at each Village you may be interested in to have the fee structure explained to you.
- What are the Terms and Conditions?
Terms and conditions are specified in your contract. You would be wise to employ a solicitor to check these and explain these to you prior to signing a contract. All terms and conditions must comply with the Tasmanian legislation covering retirement villages. This is the Retirement Villages Act 2004.
